Break out the bubbly (be it champagne or Diet Coke1) and say hello to 2025!
A shiny new year full of endless possibilities (and, admittedly, a growing to-do list). I really am so thankful for my schedule as a teacher and that it means getting this stretch of time between Christmas and the New Year to rest and reflect before heading back on campus.
I like to start my goal setting and planning between Thanksgiving and Christmas, brainstorming and making option lists for words of the year and the like, then this second pocket of days is used to narrow things down and put pen to (PowerSheet) paper.
2025, I’m coming for you. And here’s how.
Just by looking at my calendar, 2025 has a hefty list of events, do’s, and demands:
I’ll be teaching solo this spring until we hire a replacement for my tech director.
We start competition season while finishing our winter play (yikes!). 😅
I’m taking a trip to London with 10 students this summer.
I turn 34 shortly after the trip. ✨
We’ll have at least two productions in the fall.
Etc.
While most of those are work related, there are also a handful of things I’d like to get on the calendar for 2025, both personal and at school:
See professional theatre (Come From Away is already planned for this month!)
See D & R again (either locally or travel to them out of state).
Direct Shakespeare with my students for the first time (our campus has only been open 2.5 years).
Take a cooking/baking class.
Attend the state One Act Play competition (either as a competitor or viewer).
Participate in a theater conference as a vendor for Delightfully Dramatic.
