My latest summertime scroll seems to be a good mix of bookish themes, handsome actors, and food for thought. May the rest of summer hold the same!
Enjoy. 🩷

Spotify AI playlist creation. While visiting R last week, she clued me into one of Spotify’s features that I had somehow missed! I’ve been a Spotify listener since at least 2013, but somehow this slipped through the cracks. And wouldn’t you know it, the AI playlist creator is a dream! One night when we were making dinner and trying candle scents, I typed in “chill evening vibes with Ben Rector” and the playlist was perfection.
Roadtrip snacks. With a 7.5 hour drive each way on the agenda to visit R, I of course loaded up on my favorite road trip snacks: Diet Coke (duh), original Pringles, Muddy Buddies, and Buc-ee’s glazed pecans. Pair it with a good audiobook (or two) and the drive flies by.
Speaking of audiobooks, the ones that kept me company on my trip to Kansas included:
Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo1
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo
TJ Maxx/HomeGoods reusable bags. I’m pretty sure I’ve sung their praises before, but these have once again come in CLUTCH for moving. I’m now in a third floor walk up with no elevator, so having big bags to schlepp things up the stairs made all the difference.2
Now onto the rest. 🙃

I haven’t seen the movie yet but it’s on my list!
I felt this in my bones after doing Mamma Mia this year, and just know my students would be dying inside. 🤣
Was someone in a tragic accident or did my parents need help finding a hotel for a trip? Obviously, both would warrant a 9:00pm phone call. 🤦🏻♀️
I’m grateful for voices like Emily’s in so many ways on so many topics.
Thanks for reading Love, Bailey Jean and please consider being a subscriber! Your support is so kind and helps this drama teacher make a few extra ends meet (and supplies caffeine for those late evening rehearsals)!

According to my Goodreads profile, I *apparently* read this in 2019. However I have zero recollection of it at all, and I KNOW I never read the final book in the series. So after watching Shadow & Bone on Netflix while I packed, it was time to dig in (again?).
And hiring movers. After you hit 27, definitely hire movers.
